The Happy Event Planner

Slack Community Guidelines

Welcome!

This Slack Channel is for The Happy Event Planner Community and is a place to discuss event management & marketing related topics, and enjoy exclusive content, events, AMAs and more. We would love you to jump in, introduce yourself, tell us what you’re working, share your stories, great content that will help the community with their daily work. We want to bring the maximum value to our community members and hope for active participation.

We want everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, handicap, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion, to have a relaxed, friendly, and harassment-free experience. Harassment of participants in any way is not tolerated. Participants who are ordered to stop harassing others are required to do so right away.

Start Off the Right Way

  1. Set up your profile by writing a short bio and uploading an image.

  2. Introduce yourself briefly in the #introdce-yourself channel and share what you do with the other members

  3. Choose the right channel for your posts. Use threads to reply to others.

  4. Don’t be shy and start a topic straight away. You will be surprised what others have to say. All are free to contribute no matter what their experience or ability level. To wait and sneak, that is cool, as well.

  5. We expect that we'll approach others with respect. We support banter; we request persistence, and we advise you that you're here to learn and that implies being open an assorted arrangement of thoughts. See the Code of Conduct beneath.

  6. You like what you see? Then please invite your friends and colleagues to The Happy Event Planner Community by sharing this link: https://join.slack.com/t/thehappyeventplanner/shar...

What Contributions Are We Looking For?

The main rule: Anything you post should be relevant, on-topic and add value to the community. No marketing, no spam. Feel free to post endorsements of tools, products, or services that helped you in planning or marketing events, but please avoid blunt advertising, marketing, or any kind of spam. It is prohibited to affiliate links to third-party services. Posting a link to your own product or service is allowed, but only if it is in a context that adds value to other users.

Code of Conduct

Short Version

Be respectful of other community members and ask people to stop if you feel harassed or influenced negatively. Contact the administrators if you are having any problems.

Long Version

Useful for everybody who really wants to dive deep into our community.

This Is What We Expect from Our Members

Keep in mind that this is a public resource for The Happy Event Planner Community, and we're all here to help and inspire one another. When discussing your or another member's ideas, work, knowledge, and interests, give honest yet helpful feedback in a polite manner. If you disagree with a claim, instead offer well-thought-out counter-arguments to help the dialogue progress.

Do not publish anything that is disrespectful or harmful. There will be no name-calling, ad hominem attacks, impersonations, or responding to the tone of a post instead of the content. Private topics should be kept private. Do not post on another member's behalf or discuss their personal affairs.

Make Sure the Channel Fits, Before you Click Submit

Before you share content, take a moment to check the topics that are shared on each channel. Keep it clean so we can spend more time talking and less time cleaning. A few general guidelines:

  • Make sure you only share relevant content in each channel.

  • Don't post the same topic/post in many channels at the same time.

  • You are missing a channel and think it would benefit the community? Let us know here.

This Is a Open, but Confidential Community

Please keep what’s said in The Happy Event Planner Community confidential. Don’t repeat or quote things said here without the affirmative consent of the speaker(s).

Please keep in mind that whatever you say here may become public at some point. While we expect members to respect the privacy of this area, we cannot promise that they will, nor can we ensure the security of each member's login credentials and logged-in devices. Please use caution when providing sensitive information that could cause harm to you or others if made public.

If There Is Something You Can’t Sort, Report:

Please notify the administrators if you are being harassed, see that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns. They'll get back to you as soon as they can.

We will comply with requests for confidentiality in order to safeguard victims of abuse. We may publicly name or privately warn third parties about a person about whom we've received harassment complaints at our discretion. Without their express permission, we will not name harassment victims.

If a member of the community engages in harassing behavior, the admins will take appropriate action, up to and including expulsion from The Happy Event Planner Slack Community.
